Quaker Hill Deacon 5EX6 was a new growth bull on the Australian Angus scene in 2019 and quite a few Angus breeders have chosen to infuse his bloodlines into their herds. Deacon’s dam (QHF Blackcap 6E2) has produced 10 AI sires standing worldwide but is best known for Quaker Hill Rampage. We chose to mate him with our herd favourite J277, aka Jennifer who is moderate but presents excellent carcass traits and is super fertile. We don’t normally name a calf after it’s paternal dam but she is a cracker showing much of her ‘granny’s traits from the getgo, with a calving weight at 41kg and averaging a daily growth in her first month of 1.6kg/day! This is her about a hour after birth.
